New Dragon Link Slots: What Changes Between Titles

Every Dragon Link game shares one Hold & Spin engine and Orb trigger. The free games, jackpot ladder and cabinet are what change from title to title.

New Dragon Link slots all run the same engine: Aristocrat's Hold & Spin feature, triggered by an Orb symbol. What changes from one release to the next is the free-games twist, the jackpot ladder in each region and, at the high end, the size of the link and the cabinet it sits on. A new theme on its own is a re-skin.

What stays the same in every Dragon Link game

The core never moves. Aristocrat says the series builds off the Lightning Link platform (opens in a new tab) and carries the Orb trigger symbol into Hold & Spin on every title, so the game is easy to spot on any floor.

That design dates to the series' North American launch in December 2017 (opens in a new tab), when Aristocrat pitched it as a partner to Lightning Link. The jackpot structure was set then too: the grand is a linked progressive across machines (opens in a new tab), while standalone jackpots pay the smaller progressives faster and more often. Read every headline jackpot with that split in mind.

What actually changes: the free games

The free-games feature is where titles split. Aristocrat's own game guides give each theme a different bonus rule:

Autumn Moon, part of the Dragon Link and Dragon Cash family, also pays up to 250x the bet on a scatter (opens in a new tab). That is a ceiling, not a typical result. When a "new" title arrives, the free-games line in its guide is the first place to look. If it matches a game you already know, the bonus will play the way you already know.

Regional versions are not identical

The same title name does not guarantee the same jackpots. Aristocrat's Asia page for Happy and Prosperous, which it calls part of the Dragon Link family (opens in a new tab), lists two top progressive prizes (opens in a new tab), Grand and Major. Players who see a version abroad or online should check the jackpot ladder on that cabinet's own pay table rather than assume it matches the US build.

New slots in Vegas: bigger links, new cabinets

The newest Vegas releases change the stakes, not the engine. On 31 October 2024, The Venetian put the first $2m Dragon Link games live (opens in a new tab): Genghis Khan and Peace and Long Life, both on Aristocrat's MarsX Upright cabinet.

The ceiling rose again in July 2026, when The Cosmopolitan debuted two Dragon Link machines on one $5 million link (opens in a new tab). A bigger link raises the top prize. It says nothing about how often the grand hits, and none of the sources cited here publishes RTP or volatility figures for these builds, so treat the headline number as the top of the ladder only.

Which is better, Phoenix Link or Dragon Link?

Neither is better on paper; they are close relatives with different bonus rules. Phoenix Link is an extension of Dragon Link on Neptune (opens in a new tab), the single cabinet, and keeps Hold & Spin.

Its differences sit in the features: free games with multiplier wilds or twin spin reels, plus a Phoenix Mystery trigger. Dragon Link titles instead vary their free games theme by theme, from removed royals to unlimited Big Symbol spins. The better pick is the one whose free-games feature you prefer. No source here compares RTP between the two, so there is no basis for calling one looser.

Wire questions

How do link slots work?

In Dragon Link, the Orb symbols trigger Hold & Spin. The grand jackpot is a linked progressive shared across machines, while standalone jackpots pay the smaller progressives more quickly and more often.

Is Phoenix Link part of Dragon Link?

Yes. Trade coverage describes Phoenix Link as an extension of Dragon Link. It keeps Hold & Spin and adds a Phoenix Mystery trigger on the Neptune single cabinet.

Where are the biggest new Dragon Link links in Las Vegas?

The Venetian hosted the first $2m Dragon Link games in October 2024. As of July 2026, The Cosmopolitan runs two Dragon Link machines on one $5 million link.

Do regional versions pay the same jackpots?

Not always. Aristocrat's Asia page for Happy and Prosperous lists two top progressive prizes, so check the jackpot ladder on the version in front of you.
